Share Your Knowledge activates, trains and supports the upload of information and media (photos, recordings, videos, etc.) that currently exists within specialist institutions, such as Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (otherwise known as GLAM), across the continent.

This project was created in the belief that cultural and memory institutions (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums, otherwise known as GLAM) hold within their walls vital, researched and verified knowledge on the heritage and history of Africa. This verified, factual evidence is exactly the type of information that is sorely needed on Wikipedia in order to begin refocusing the lens through which Africa’s history and people are viewed.

The Share Your Knowledge programme is a collaborative effort that works on strong partnerships with African and international institutions and organisations that hold or specialise in African content. The partnership with these institutions are an integral part of achieving WikiAfrica’s ambitious but attainable aims.
